The College 

The London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism at the University of West London is an award-winning institution with over seven decades of teaching excellence in the service industries. Recognised as the top university in London for Hospitality, Leisure, and Tourism in the Guardian University Guide 2025, the college offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that lead to professionally accredited qualifications. 

Our curriculum is designed to provide a holistic learning experience, equipping students with skills required to lead the next generation of service sector managers. The college boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a Boeing 737-flight simulator, professional-standard kitchens, a Food Innovation Lab, and Pillars, our on-campus training restaurant. 

We are deeply engaged in research through the International Centre for Hospitality and Aviation Resilience Management (ICHARM) and the West London Food Innovation Centre. Our strong industry connections and partnerships ensure that our programmes remain relevant and impactful, preparing students for successful careers in aviation and hospitality. 

The Role

You will play a key role in shaping the future of our students, ensuring they receive a world-class education that prepares them for successful careers in the global hospitality, culinary, tourism, events and aviation industries.

The Person 

To excel as the Deputy Dean at the London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism, you will need: 

  • Proven Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in leading and managing academic teams, with a strong ability to inspire and motivate staff and students alike. 
  • Academic Excellence: A robust background in developing and managing academic programmes, particularly in the fields of aviation, culinary, tourism, nutrition and hospitality, with a track record of innovation and success. 
  • Industry Engagement: Strong connections with industry partners and a history of successful collaborations that enhance academic offerings and student opportunities. 
  • Strategic Vision: The ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that advance the college's mission and goals, ensuring our programmes remain at the forefront of the industry. 
  • Commitment to Student Success: A passion for improving student engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes, with a focus on creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. 
  • Research and Development: Experience in leading research initiatives and integrating cutting-edge practices into the curriculum, particularly in areas such as AI and sustainability. 
  • Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, staff, industry partners, and the wider academic community.

Should you be successful and do not hold an HEA fellowship you will be asked to complete one within 2 years of appointment as a condition of your continued employment. Depending on eligibility this may take the form of an advanced Level 7 apprenticeship in teaching which means that you will spend 20% of your work in off-the-job study.
